What is Emby Connect?
Emby Connect is a free service that makes it easier to access your media server from any device. Instead of typing in server addresses and remembering separate login details, you sign in once with your Emby Connect account and all your authorized servers appear automatically.
How is Emby Connect different from a normal login?
Normal Login:
- You need to know the server's address or IP
- You enter a local username and password set by the server owner
- If you use multiple devices, you have to configure each one manually
- If the server address changes, you have to update it on every device
Emby Connect:
- You sign in with one email and password across all devices
- Your authorized servers are found automatically
- No need to know or type any server addresses
- If anything changes on the server side, your access stays seamless
In short: Emby Connect is the more convenient option, especially if you watch on multiple devices.
How do I get started with Emby Connect?
Follow these steps:
Step 1: Create your free Emby Connect account
- Go to emby.media/connect
- Click Sign Up
- Enter your email address, choose a username, and create a password
- Check your inbox for a verification email from Emby and click the link to confirm your account
Step 2: Send your email address
Once your account is created, send the email address you used to register in Discord or a Ticket. I will then add you as an authorized user on the server. You will receive an invitation email from Emby.
Step 3: Accept the invitation
- Open the invitation email from Emby
- Click the link to accept the invitation
- If prompted, sign in with your Emby Connect credentials
Step 4: Connect your devices
- Download the Emby app on your device (available for phones, tablets, smart TVs, streaming boxes, and more)
- Open the app and select Sign in with Emby Connect
- Enter your Emby Connect email and password
- The server will appear automatically - select it and you're ready to watch
Do I need to pay for Emby Connect?
No. Creating an Emby Connect account is completely free.
What if I don't receive the verification or invitation email?
Check your spam or junk folder. If you still can't find it, make sure you entered your email address correctly and try again. Emails usually arrive within a few minutes.
Can I still use a normal login instead?
Yes, but Emby Connect is recommended for its simplicity. If you prefer the traditional method, let me know and I can set up a local account for you instead.
